Myahm Agana Shrine / Myahm Agana Apparatus – BotW

The Myahm Agana Shrine is one of the most frequently visited shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as it is the resident shrine of Hateno Village; let’s see how to complete it.

Location

As I mentioned before, Myahm Agana is the resident shrine of Hateno Village which is along the path stretching far east from the Dueling Peaks. Most players first come across it when completing the, “Locked Mementos,” Main Quest which is acquired from Impa near the regular beginning of the game and entails visiting Purah who will repair your Sheikah Slate.

Within the Village, the shrine itself is situated on a ledge in the south-western area of town.

Walkthrough

This Shrine – as it is still one of the first shrines in the mainline game – is relatively simple and easy. As mentioned in the name, it is an Apparatus Shrine and therefore has its puzzle developed using Apparatus Sheikah Technology which is used to move certain blocks with motion controls.

As you enter the shrine you will see both the puzzle and the gateway to the monk; this is all you need to see really. To complete the shrine much more quickly than the normal method, I recommend using a windbomb from the platform up the stairs to get to the monk. It may take a couple of attempts but it really does speed things up a bit! You can learn how to windbomb from our Guide to Windbombs (BotW).

Alternatively, you can complete the shrine normally (which in my opinion is boring). To do this, you need to – once again – climb the stairs and access the platform with the apparatus machinery. This time, actually take hold of the apparatus and wait for the shrine orb to fall. Carefully angle the platform the right ways to roll the orb around the maze. At the end of the maze, angle the platform down towards the one to the left and flick it up at the last second to launch the orb onto the ramp. Wait for the Orb to fall down the ramp and unlock the gate.

Alternatively – once again – you can activate the apparatus and flip your controller upside down to flip the platform. This way there is no maze for the orb to have to roll around on. From here all you need to do is carefully angle the platform and roll the orb onto the ramp. Let it roll down and unlock the gate.

Before you leave the shrine, however, I thoroughly recommend obtaining the Phrenic Bow found in this Shrine’s chest. To get to this chest, angle the maze down a bit so you can glide from the platform with the control machinery to the maze platform. Glide down and walk through the maze to the chest. I recommend acquiring the bow as it allows you to zoom into your target which is super hand this early on, or even later on.

From here, travel through the gate and receive the Spirit Orb from the monk to complete the Myahm Agana shrine!
