Jitan Sa'mi Shrine / Jitan Sa'mi's Blessing / The Spring of Wisdom - BotW

The Jitan Sa’mi Shrine is one of the more interestingly lengthy shrines in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild due to its story, related quest and lore. Let’s see how it’s done!

Location

The Jitan Sa’mi shrine is located on top of Mount Lanayru – north of Hateno Village. It’s right at the top of the mountain and is at one of the highest altitudes in the game, because of this you’ll need level two cold protection which you can acquire through food or clothing. I personally recommend wearing the Snowquill Set from Rito Village.

The Spring of Wisdom Shrine Quest

Before you begin the quest, I recommend collecting a bow that can shoot far; you will also need several regular arrows, I would get around 20 as this allows for leeway if you miss. The four bows I suggest are:

The Phrenic Bow or the Golden Bows.
- These are great bows as they allow you to zoom in on your target.
The Duplex Bow.
- This bow shoots two arrows at once for the price of one and fires in a very straight line, brilliant for long distance shots.
The Ancient Bow.
- This bow practically defies gravity. Bought from Robbie in the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, this bow allows you to fire any of the six arrows from anywhere to anywhere, this bow is one of the best in the game.

You’ll only need one of these bows and I’ve ordered them in difficulty to acquire: Phrenic, Golden, Duplex and Ancient. These are not necessary but they do help.

In order to activate and unlock the shrine, you need to offer one of Naydra’s Scales. Naydra is one of the dragon spirits in Breath of the Wild and is the representative of the Goddess Nayru. Unfortunately, before you complete this quest, she has been infected by Ganon’s Malice and you need to free her.

Upon arriving at the top of the mountain, you will encounter a statue of the Goddess Hylia and a very sick and overwhelmed Naydra.

Talk to the Goddess through the statue and she will explain everything. You will then need to proceed to destroy all the malice eyes greatly sickening the dragon.

After defeating one eye from the ground, Naydra will fly away and loop around a different area of the mountain. You need to fly and chase her. Shoot each and every one of the eyes as the two of you head down the mountain; once you have shot all of them you will both teleport back to the start – with the power of a cutscene.

You will then be permitted to fire another arrow at Naydra to acquire a scale of hers; you need to drop said scale into the water in front of the Goddess Statue, this will unlock the barrier behind the statue and reveal the Jitan Sa’mi Shrine.
